RAW FOOD CHALLENGE!

Ok, so I recently saw a documentary about this and heard about it in a lecture a while ago at university, apparently it is the healthiest diet you can get, so I thought, 'What the hey?' and decided to take it up for five days. Five days of fruit, veg, seeds, nuts and not much else... Oh, and all uncooked!

Here I shall document my progress and see if I really do end up feeling better!

DAY ONE.

This seemed like a fun idea, a great excuse to try making things such as houmous, something I'd always fancied making! I spent £20 at Sainsbury's (look, I am (technically still) a student, I can't afford fancy health-food shops!) and carried the whole lot home! I made my first 'meal' up, sat down in the lounge and spent time with my housemates. Then one of them remembered that the giant-chocolate-cream-filled muffin in his fridge was about to go out of date. Good timing! He brought it into the room with plates and forks after I'd said I would have some and 'start the diet tomorrow', but I did something I was very proud of, I ended up having the willpower to say no! I sat there with my bowl of raw peas whilst they stuffed their faces and made remarks about how good it was. I was already feeling good.

What I ate...

Peas, blueberries, pea shoots.
Homemade houmous with carrot sticks.
Cherries.
Strawberry and banana smoothies.
Homemade peanut butter.

DAY TWO:

The giant muffin came out once again! Again I resisted! Please pat me on the back! :) However, I'm already getting tired of this limited diet. I'm supposed to be noticing a change, I have; my stomach is having a complete go at me! I suffer with IBS and let me tell you, this diet does not help it at all! I also have to pretty much constantly eat to keep my energy levels up!

What I ate...

Raw porridge with peanuts and strawberries.
Bean and pea salad (black-eyed beans, berlotti beans, chickpeas, peas) with a lemon and herb dressing.
Broccoli and bean soup (black-eyed beans, berlotti beans, butter beans).
Banana, strawberry and grape smoothie.
Cherries.
Seeds.
Mushrooms.
Grapes and strawberries.

CHANGE PUN TO POW!

Ok, so it's been a month and I need to get on here to vent some anger and insanity...

No experimental-shit this time (maybe later?), just stuff that is kind of understandable.

First of all, today is the 17th of May - Norwegian Independence Day - so gratulerer to all the Norskys... That gets that out of the way.

Next is that I have been thinking recently (shock horror!) Why do we use the word 'Pun'?

I ask this because, to me, it's blatantly obvious that we should rename this term as 'Pow.' 'Pun' is just silly. It looks as though someone was meant to type 'Fun' but the ink smeared, it's a half-arsed word. Of course, the three-letter idea is good because it makes it short and snappy, which suits the meaning of the word well, but 'Pun'? Really? It's not something you want to shout out about.

'Pow' on the other hand, sounds awesome! You see it in comic books all the time when someone gets a knuckle sandwich - automatically giving the word some 'oomph'. It's also a very cool thing to shout, "Ohhhh, screw you! I just made a POW!" There's no doubt about it, that is more suitable and great sounding than 'Pun' times tenfold.

But sounding awesome isn't the only up-side, think about it... A 'Pun' is a 'Play On Words?'... Got it yet? No - Keep going! Yes - Read on, my intelligent friend!

What a blasting good acronym we have here! Why has no one thought of it before?! This quite obviously shows that I am, in fact, a genius.

From now on, all Doodlies should use 'Pows' to show off their intelligence!

Right, I've got to go and get hold of the Oxford English Dictionary people now...
